Rice cooking directions on a stovetop

In a medium saucepan, add 3 1/2 cups of water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the Mamma’s Mouthwatering Rice Mix. Stir all the ingredients together and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and keep the pot covered.

Cook for 20 minutes or until all the liquids are absorbed and the rice is done.  Remove from the heat and serve in your favorite bowl. 

Rice cooking directions in a microwave

In a microwave dish, combine 3 1/2 cups of water, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and the Mamma’s Mouthwatering Rice Mix. Stir all the ingredients together.  Cover the dish and microwave on high for 25 minutes. 

Stir the mixture halfway through the cooking time. Remove the rice from the microwave and let stand for 5 minutes or until all the liquid is absorbed.  Microwave times my vary.

Rice cooking directions in the oven

Preheat the over to 350 degrees. In an oven proof dish add 3 1/2 cups of water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the Mamma’s Mouthwatering Rice Mix. Stir all the ingredients together and place in the oven.  In a covered pan, back for 45 minutes or until done.

• Long grain parboiled rice
• Chicken base with no meat

Try adding these additional ingredients.

• Sliced black olives
• Red bell pepper chopped

• Fresh parsley
• Lemon juice
• Sun dried tomatoes

Mamma’s Magnificent Mouthwatering Chicken and Rice

• 1 package of Mamma's Mouthwatering Rice Mix
• 4 chicken breasts cut into strips
• 3 Tablespoons olive oil

In large pot or skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of oil. Add chicken and brown lightly on both sides. Add Mamma's Mouthwatering Rice Mix and 3 ½ water to chicken along with remaining olive oil.

Cover. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to simmer and cook until rice is cooked and all liquid is absorbed. Serve with salad for a complete meal.

Evelyn's Elegant Edibles were inspired by holiday dinners at my grandmother's (yiayia) house. I come from a large Greek family and I have fond memories of the unique dishes prepared for the holidays.
