These wooden Folk Art Trays imitate an American design that honors early art forms in colonial America, specifically Crewel work. Crewel embroidery actually originated centuries ago and people know it for its large, bold designs. The two designs featured here are adaptations of Crewel designs by Eunice Brewster from around 1765.
The wives of the founders of America used Crewel work to create some of the most beautiful, intricate and original artwork. The skilled artist created these modern art trays for your home by adapting ancient Crewel designs with blue and white bird images. She hand painted these onto 19" x 13" x 2.5" wooden trays made of reclaimed maple by her father. This father-daughter team are a part of a family run, small business in Florida.
No two are identical, and each is a window to the past. Celebrate these amazing artists with Harvest Array, both past and present.
These trays boast both functional and aesthetic appeal: perfect for transporting your morning coffee and breakfast out onto the patio. Serve dessert to your guests at Thanksgiving or Christmas using one of these trays.
You can also use them as a nice addition to other Folk Art in your dining area. They look great when placed on a hutch or against a wall. These wooden trays make unique gifts for anyone that appreciates historical art, such as this particular type of Folk Art.
